The fabrics from which your stylish CKS clothes are made have an impact on our planet. That's why, little by little, we are moving away from conventional materials and want to use more fabrics that have less impact. Our goal: by 2030, 100% of our most commonly used materials - cotton, polyester and viscose - should be less harmful to people and the environment. That's 95% (!) of our collection. And that's how we do it:

Each year we set specific targets for our most commonly used materials. These targets are evaluated annually and adjusted if necessary, especially if there are new innovations that can offer the same quality. Together with our supplier base, we look for solutions so that we can obtain and source more sustainable materials.

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) promotes sustainable cotton farming by training farmers in environmentally and socially responsible practices, such as efficient water use, reduced pesticides and better working conditions. Cotton produced according to these standards is called "Better Cotton." Claes Retail Group is a member of BCI, where producers are independently audited to obtain the BCI label.
We are continuing to explore the best options for replacing conventional polyester by 2030, with recycled polyester being the only possible option for now, as we only want to use material that is certified.
Have you heard of Tencell Lyocell®, Tencell Modal® and Lenzing® EcoVero™, among others? These are fabrics like viscose and lyocell, derived from wood pulp from sustainably managed forests, that you will find more and more in part of our collections. And with which we are gradually moving away from conventional viscose. This type of viscose meets all the standards for a production process with less impact because they constantly reuse the raw materials needed to convert the wood pulp into viscose.
When certain alternative raw materials effectively end up in our clothing, we receive a certificate for this. By the way, did you know that we have to be able to present this effectively for each garment? We want to communicate this transparently and openly to our customer through labels such as GOTS cotton, GRS Global Recycled Standard or EcoVero viscose.
