Nothing more dramatic than your favorite sweater suddenly coming out of the wash as a crop top! Wool clothing (merino, alpaca, mohair) is best washed as little as possible in the first place, and is best ventilated. Crocheted or knitted items are delicate so it is best to wash them by hand at a cold or lukewarm temperature, submerging them in water and definitely not soaking them. Still using the washing machine? Avoid horror stories by checking the washing instructions, use a small amount of wool detergent but no fabric softener and choose a low rpm (around 400). What about drying? Never wring out wool clothing or put it in the dryer. Rather, roll the garment in a towel to soak up excess water, stand on the towel to squeeze out extra water, and then let it dry flat on a flat surface with a towel underneath. Are there any lint (pilling) on your sweater? This is normal, you can easily remove these pellets with an unfuzzizer.
Jeans aka denim garments do not need to be washed every time you have worn them, a few hours of airing is enough to remove odors. When you wash your jeans clothes after 4 to 5 wears, always turn them inside out with the zipper or buttons closed, and go for a gentle 30°C wash cycle to avoid discoloration and shrinkage. Furthermore, be sure to use liquid detergent sooner, omit fabric softener and avoid the dryer so that your items wear less quickly and keep their shape. Again, especially with dark colors, vinegar can hold the color better.
You will find a lot of viscose in our collections, including the more durable fabrics LENZING™ ECOVERO™, TENCEL™ Modal and TENCEL™ Lyocell. Because viscose is not as strong wet, it is best to treat it with care. Always follow the washing instructions, wash at up to 30°C with a fine program such as wool or silk. Turn your clothes inside out or use a laundry bag to avoid wear and tear. Add a dash of vinegar to the fabric softener compartment to keep the colors beautiful longer. In addition, avoid the dryer, and air dry your item on a hanger to prevent shrinkage. Fabric can sometimes feel a bit stiff and “cardboardy” after washing, but once dry and ironed, it will feel soft and supple again.
Cotton is a pleasant fabric to wear daily, easy to care for and, based on the care label, can be washed at different temperatures. For woven towels or sheets, think 60°C, but for T-shirts, rather 30°C. However, to maintain softness and color, we recommend washing at no more than 30°C and air drying as much as possible.
Special items require a specific approach and some extra love! Reading the care labels is very important to see whether you can wash them by hand or by machine but with a laundry bag. Fragile garments with embellishments, sequins or more delicate fabrics should be steamed to avoid pearls coming loose.
